Apple has associated with E-Commerce website Flipkart for selling its iPhone 7 phones on the Bengaluru-based platform October 7 onwards. Flipkart has decided to source iPhone 7 straight from Apple. In the past Flipkart used to source Apple phones from third party vendors.

Apple has partnered with an online player for the first time for selling the new iPhone version. Apple’s existing partner Infibeam will also receive the new versions directly. However, Infibeam is more famous as a bulk seller, which means they do not deal with consumers directly.

This progress was initially reported by an online portal known as www.bgr.in. When these two parties were contacted by the TOI representatives, Flipkart refused to comment on this matter. Moreover, an e-mail was also sent to the Apple India spokesperson, but he did not elicit any response.

Flipkart, the largest e-commerce market share holder in India, precipitates a major segment of its revenues straight from the sales of smartphones. Multiple brands, including Motorola, LeEco etc., sell exclusively on Flipkart. A publication reported that Flipkart sold 1 lakh units of Motorola’s E3 range in 24 hours on Tuesday.

This iPhone 7 deal will give Flipkart a heads up, at a phase when it is encountering rigid competition from Amazon. Amazon has been investing massively in the Indian market.

The tie-up between Apple and Flipkart may provide the customers with fresh excitements during the festive season sales. For Apple, India has now become a hot selling market. This got reflected in Tim Cook’s (Apple CEO) recent appointment to India and the meetings he had with the government officials. iPhone 7 versions are expected to be estimated at Rs 60,000 and more, based on the features and specifications.
