Redmond giant Google’s product Android has already made its way all over the world in smartphones segment and it has proved itself better over many other cell phone platforms available around. But, slowly Android is sweeping the tablet market too. The success of Android based Apple’s iPad has already open doors for Android based tablet PCs. All the companies from Acer, to Asus, LG to Cisco are already working towards the creation of iPad rivals. The Google’s operating system is the most enticing platform for many tablet makers these days. So, come let’s check some forthcoming as well as already available android-based tablets.
Cisco is going to enter the android camp with Cius. The Cius weighs 0.52 kg, a 7-inch touchscreen with a front-facing 720p HD camera for real-time video conferencing along with 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G and 8 hours of battery life. The Cius, which is targeted to more of business people also has a rear camera, which is 5-megapixel, Bluetooth and Micro-USB port. It expected to see tablet in market in 2011. Cisco hasn’t told anything about pricing.
One of the largest technological corporations in the world, Dell has unveiled its Tablet PC called Streak just two days before the Apple iPad gets set for a global launch. The Streak is embraced with many amazing features like features a sharp multi-touch 5-inch capacitive multi-touch WVGA (800×480) display, Fast 1GHz Snapdragon ARM-based mobile processor, 3.5mm headphone jack, integrated 3G + Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) + Bluetooth 2.1 along with a user-accessible Micro SD slot expandable up to 32GB. But the memory can be expanded upto 32GB via MicroSD card.
As per reports cited by Dell, Streak will get the latest Android 2.2 update when it will be available to its users.
A well-known name in Laptop arena, Acer is also geared up to launch an android-based tablet PC very soon. According to reports, the Taiwanese hardware-giant will be launching two Android-based tablets by the end of 2010. Both the tablets will sport a 7-inch and 10-inch display and will run on latest Android release, 2.2 FroYo, powered by an ARM processor and integrate multimedia entertainment capabilities and feature support for Adobe Flash. The company has not revealed many details of the machines, but for sure Acer is working with mobile telecom carriers to market the 3G capable products.
Archos 5 Internet tablet
This is an Android tablet, which is already present in the market. This tablet comes with solid-state 60GB storage and power packed by 800Mhz processor. In addition, 4.8-inch touchscreen, 3.5mm socket, Bluetooth, dock and micro USB, Wi-Fi makes this tablet a functional machine. The tablet supports battery backup of 22 hours audio and 7 hours video. The price of Archos 5 is Rs 39,000
LG already has a smartphone lineup based on Google Androids is also all set to launch an Android tablet. LG’s Android tablet will be branded along with the company’s Optimus Series of Android smartphones. The company has not revealed any secrets about it’s slate, but insiders said that LG tablet is going to be thinner and lighter than competing tablets and that mysterious tablet would be launched most probably by year end.
MSI WindPad 110
Taiwanese multinational company MSI too unleashed its Android-based laptop “ MSI WindPad 110”, at this year’s Computex. WindPad 110 is power packed by Android 2.1 and Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset. Other features it sports are a 10 inch capacitive touchscreen display, a USB port for peripheral access and video-out capability along with a Webcam, two USB 2.0 ports, Wi-Fi and 3G wireless and HDMI high-definition video output.
Some other upcoming android based tablets are Archos 7 in August end, Asus EeePad in 2011, Dell Streal Mini 5 in 2011 and Lenovo LePad in late 2010 or early 2011.
