Apple seems to be working on an uncommon ‘Vaporizer’ like device, if a recently granted patent by USPTO is to be accepted. The Cupertino-based tech company filed a patent on July 20, 2016 saying ‘a chamber body’ or a ‘canister’ that can vaporize a ‘substance’.
The unique of the patent reads, “A chamber body is to receive therein a substance that is to be vaporized or sublimated into a vapour. A plate whose bottom face lays on the substance inside the chamber body is temperature controlled, e.g., using a heater therein, which releases heat directly above the substance that lies underneath. The plate slides downwards as the substance is consumed by vaporization or sublimation. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.”
Although that doesn’t reveal much about the product, it does open up doors to many speculations. Since the patent does not mention about any human interaction with the product, it can be assumed that the device will be automated.
It could be an e-cigarette, or even an air freshener of sorts. Another angle being given to it by The Verge website is that it could be an accessory for the autonomous car Apple is rumoured to be working upon.
Apple, like other companies, keeps on filing patents from time to time but it should be noted that it’s not necessary the device will definitely see the light of the day. One of the most recent yet interesting patent applications by Apple was that of a dual-SIM smartphone.
The Tim Cook-led company was granted a patent for dual-SIM supporting smartphone a while back.
