FreeCharge announced today its partnership with ICICI Merchant Services, it enable users to pay bills from their FreeCharge wallet at more than 1 lakh ICICI Merchant Services merchants across 700 cities & towns in India.
This allows customers to make payments using their mobile phones and complete the transaction with a secure On-The-Go-Pin in less than 10 seconds.
“The partnership will help us expand our footprint and enable merchants and consumers from Tier I & II cities to be part of the digital payments ecosystems,” Govind Rajan, Chief Executive Officer, FreeCharge said in a statement.
The partnership between FreeCharge and ICICI Merchant Services, powered by First Data, will ease the payment process for various merchants and consumers by introducing a faster and secure way to make cashless payments.
With this arrangement going live, now more than one lakh merchants which are using PoS terminals of ICICI Merchant Services can accept the payment via FreeCharge wallet at their establishments.
These merchants will gradually expand the huge base of merchants already accepting FreeCharge, this includes leading retail & food brands like Hypercity, Shoppers Stop, Pantaloons, Café Coffee Day, Barista, Vishal Mega Mart, McDonald’s, Haldiram & more than 53,000 fuel pumps across the country. In addition to this lakhs of smaller merchants including grocery stores, chemists & food delivery outlets use FreeCharge to offer their customers the fastest and secured digital payment experience.
