Worldwide printing and PC giant HP Inc. kept up the top spot in the Indian PC market with a overall market share of 28.8 percent, this was revealed through report by International Data Corporation (IDC) .
As per IDC ,HP grew by 18.9 per cent quarter on quarter in comparison to Q2 2016 due to the partial execution of state-owned education project. Ketan Patel, Senior Director, Personal Systems, HP India in a statement mentioned “Our unwavering commitment towards delivering amazing products and solutions to consumers and businesses that empower them to succeed in this digital age has helped us sustain the market leadership,”
Dell attained second spot with a market share of 24.1 per cent. The vendor grew by 27.6 per cent quarter-on-quarter over Q2 2016. Third in the race was Lenovo with 17.5 per cent market share in the quarter and a growth by 27.3 per cent quarter on quarter over Q2 2016.
The overall PC shipments for Q3 2016 in India remained at 2.51 million, a quarter on quarter development of 17.3 percent. The shipments however observed a decline of 22.5 percent from a similar quarter a year ago. The worldwide PC shipments have been declining continuously for more than eight quarters now, yet India has stood high where the penetration is still low.
The overall consumer PC market was reported with 1.37 million units, and a quarter on quarter growth of 31 per cent over second quarter of 2016.
The commercial PC segment on the other hand recorded shipment of 1.13 million units in Q3 2016 with a 4.1 per cent quarter on quarter increase when compared to Q2 2016.
