iPhone 6s & 6s Plus prices slashed by Rs 22,000

Just after few days ahead of the newly unveiled iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus launch, Apple has slashed prices of selected handsets in the country by up to Rs 22,000.

In what can only be called the highest price cut ever by the Cupertino-headquartered tech giant, the iPhone 6S (128GB) version will be available for Rs 60,000 — a straight Rs 22,000 drop from Rs 82,000 at which it was retailing in the country. The bigger-screen variant, iPhone 6S Plus (128GB), will now be available at a price of Rs 70,000. The smartphone too has received a direct price cut of Rs 22,000.
Not only that, the latest four-inch iPhone SE will also retail for lower prices. The 64GB version of iPhone SE, currently sporting a price tag of Rs 49,000 will now be available at Rs 44,000.

“Apple has reduced prices in certain variants of the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and the SE,” an industry source informed.

However, the company is yet to start taking pre-orders for the new iPhones which is set to go on sale from October 7. The new iPhones will come with iOS 10 out of the box with the Plus sporting a dual rear camera. Both the 7 family variants will come with optical image stabilisation, 3D Touch Hone Button and a dust, water resistant design.

Last year, Apple had launched iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus in India in October. While the iPhone 6S (16GB) was launched at a price of Rs 62,000, the iPhone 6S Plus (16GB) had a retail price of Rs 72,000. Both the iPhones come with 3D Touch and 2GB RAM along with support for 4K videos.

The four-inch SE, which was launched to push Apple smartphones in emerging markets like India, sports a 4-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD display with a resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels. The SE runs a A9 chipset with M9 motion co-processor. Other specifications of the device are 12MP rear camera and Touch ID.
