Lenovo launches new gaming laptops brand- Legion


Lenovo at its pre-CES 2017 event took the wraps off its new gaming laptop series – Lenovo Legion. “The new gaming sub-brand offers gamers powerful gaming devices and community engagement. It’s a user experience designed around what they’re passionate about – the most immersive gaming experiences,” said the organization in a blog post.

The series launched with two laptops – Lenovo Legion Y720 and Y520 that come with the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU (top variant) alongside the Intel ‘Kaby Lake’ core i7 processor, paired with 16GB DDR4 RAM. The specifications are different based on the laptop variant. The Lenovo Legion Y720 also paired with Thunderbolt 3.

Out of the two, the Legion 720 comes with better high-end specifications and more battery power comparatively.

It is worth specifying that the inclusion of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU additionally makes both the gaming laptop VR-ready. Users would simply need to connect a VR headset in the laptops’ HDMI port for immersive experience.

The Lenovo Legion laptops support up to UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS anti-glare display. While the Legion Y720 is available in both 15-inch and 17-inch screen sizes, the Y520 comes in 15-inch screen size. For better viewing experience users can plug the laptop to one of the 27-inch Lenovo Y27g Curved Gaming Monitors also.

Lenovo claims that its Legion Y720 is the world’s first Dolby Atmos Windows based PC. “When playing Dolby Atmos-enabled content and using headphones, you can hear the locations of teammates and enemies in three-dimensional space—bringing an enhanced sense of depth and detail to your gaming experience,” the blog post adds.

Thereis also an optional RGB keyboard on the Lenovo Legion Y720 and optional red backlit keyboard on the Lenovo Legion Y520 laptop. Also, the Lenovo Legion Y720 is said to come with the option of an incorporated Xbox One wireless receiver.

While the Lenovo Legion Y720 laptop starts at $1,399.99 and will be available in April, the Legion Y520 laptop starts at $899.99 and will be available in the US market starting next month.
