We can soon have ‘more of’ Uber. The cab hiring company is taking its UberHire service to additional nine cities in the country after a pilot in Kochi. The list of 9 cities includes New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Vizag and Nagpur.
With UberHire, commuters can hire the cabs for up to 12 hours. This implies that one need not have to book their Uber ride again and again. Instead, they just book an Uber once and can use the same cab for almost the entire day.
As for the fare, UberHIRE will cost the passengers minimum of Rs 449 to Rs 649 for two hours and up to 30 kms.
After exceeding this limit, users will be charged Rs 2 per minute and Rs 12 per km. Also, per minute charges and cancellation charges vary from city to city.
The cab aggregator claims that UberHIRE is an India-first feature.
Apurva Dalal, Head of engineering, Uber India stated, “We are always thinking of ways to enhance the Uber experience. Our technology makes it possible for us to create specialised solutions that can help users have access to reliable transportation at affordable prices. UberHIRE is one such product that addresses the unique commuting needs of riders in India, especially that of tourists, business travellers, senior citizens, and working professionals by letting them book an Uber and use it for up to 12 hours.”
Recently, the organization also announced that it will be soon launching UberEATS service in India. The service uses the same technology as the company’s cab service and was launched in Los Angeles first in 2014. Uber is said to have partnered with several restaurants across India for faster food delivery.
Ola too had launched a similar service sometime back. Called Ola Cafe, the service was shut down within a year.
