It is just the beginning of new fiscal and tech industry is already witnessing sweeping board shake-ups.  Many companies including McAfee, Xerox, NetApp, Avaya, Sophos, Epson and Intel have strengthened their management teams with the appointment of new Country Heads and Directors in Q1 2012. 


Let’s check out some significant management shake-ups happened recently in India. 


McAfee India appoints Jagdish Mahapatra as MD


McAfee made a significant stride in strengthening its India management team with the appointment of Jagdish Mahapatra as the Managing Director- India and SAARC, McAfee in mid February. In his previous role, Jagdish Mahapatra was the Senior Vice President – IT Services Sales at Cisco Systems India where he played a crucial role in scaling business in the IT services segment, the company’s largest sales vertical.  


Xerox appoints Rajat Jain as MD


In the same month, Xerox Corporation has appointed Rajat Jain as the managing director of its Indian operations. Prior to his new role, Jain was at the helm of Mobile2win India, a mobile phone value-added services provider, and Walt Disney India. 


In his new role, Jain is responsible for leading Xerox India's strategy implementation and business operations, including sales of products and services, marketing, brand recognition, and customer service operations for Xerox India.


Anil Valluri Joins NetApp as President India & SAARC


Before February end, NetApp has appointed Anil Valluri as President, NetApp India Marketing & Services Private Limited. Prior to joining NetApp, Valluri was with Artiman Ventures which is a US-based venture capital firm. Before that he spend almost 11 years at Sun Microsystems where his last role was vice President and Managing Director for India. Anil Valluri is an industry veteran with 25 year of industry experience. 


Ex - Microsoft employee Rajeev Mittal joins Avaya


In the beginning of thirs month of the year, ex - Microsoft employee Rajeev Mittal joined Avaya as Managing Director of Avaya across India and SAARC. Mittal joined Avaya at a time when companies throughout the region are looking to accelerate their businesses with the latest communications and collaborations offerings. Before joining Avaya, Mittal worked at numerous senior positions for companies including Microsoft, Oracle, IBM and Wipro Technologies – both in India and APAC leadership roles.


Ex-Symantec employee Kuldeep Raina joins Sophos India as CM


In mid-March,  Symantec lost one more key executive and data protection firm, Sophos has elevated Kuldeep Raina Manager - Product Sales Specialist at Symantec as Country Manager, India. Raina replaces Altaf Hande, who has moved to Kaspersky as MD.


Raina has more than a decade and half years of diverse sales experience in various tech companies specializing in segments including Network Security, Network Monitoring, Systems Management, Networking Technologies and Enterprise Application.


NEC’s Rajiv Bhalla joins Intel


After spending four years in NEC as Country Manager Sales & Marketing since mid 2008, Rajiv Bhalla is now sales head at chip giant Intel as Director - Sales and Marketing.


Toshiyuki Kasai joins Epson as President


Near March end, Japanese digital imaging and printing giant Epson appointed Toshiyuki Kasai to the newly created position of President at Epson India, based at Bangalore. Prior to joining Epson India, Kasai was working as the head of business management for the imaging and information division at Seiko Epson Japan. He brings extensive experience spanning 30 years spent in various capacities within the Seiko Epson group with him.
