Apple: The Good, bad and ugly

Over the last two decades, Apple has emerged as an indomitable brand of tech industry with its remarkable products including the iPod, iPhone and iPad. The company has built up a worldwide reputation for these outstanding “i” products. But, still there are some areas where Apple could significantly improve its offering to users.

Let’s explore some significant areas where Apple could focus on, which are also lessons for the tech giant itself. These can help Apple to reach an extra mile to its success.

More Secretive than homeland security

Of course, Apple is merely the most secretive Silicon Valley company, but sometimes, security alliance applied by Apple create problems for users. For instance, things like accessing Microsoft servers, running Office and Outlook Apps on Apple devices require a Microsoft license. As a result, some enterprises hesitate using Apple’s product for their business requirements.

 Not good for gaming

App store is not good for gaming at all. If users sort the store's games selection by the newest available produces titles, it will display the titles, which users have already seen on Windows platform two or more years ago. It is found, games have always been scarce on the Mac, and Apple is still not able to convince many developers to develop new titles compatible with its computers.

However, Apple's Boot Camp lets users to run Windows games on a Mac, still it is quite difficult to say how many hardcore gamers will choose to go that route.

Hardware pricing

There are numerous users who hesitate buying high priced Apple products and its upgrades. For instance, Apple is charging $200 for an upgrade from 4GB of RAM to 8GB, while users can easily get 16GB of RAM from other vendors for nearly $240.

Well! Users may understand that companies like Apple need to turn a profit, but some of Apple’s upgrade prices are truly shocking.

Ignorance to some countries

Despite the fact that India is the second fastest growing mobile market, it seems Apple is considering India as a dumping ground for its outdated products. It is found, India is one of the largest telecom market and consumers here crave for the Apple’s iPad and iPhone. Seems, Apple has no love for the profit and tends to ignore India on every big launch.

When rest of the world was eagerly waiting for iPad 2, India was hoping for iPad1 launch. Similarly, when US citizens were all set to welcome the iPhone 5, Indians were awaiting the release of iPhone 4.

Safari Web Browser

All Apple devices have a default web browser, Safari. No doubt, Safari a fantastic browser and does a brilliant job of surfing websites. But that doesn’t mean that Safari Mobile is perfect; it’s far from perfection.

The biggest and most obvious problem with the browser is its inability to handle multiple tabs without periodically deciding that it has to reload all the pages. In addition, it works fine on 3G connection, while on a Wi-Fi connection; it is difficult to work with Safari.
