Facebook suffers outage in India
According to latest reports, the number one social networking site Facebook was unavailable to users on Tuesday morning in India.
However, only the access from desktops was reported to be affected as the website was accessible via mobile apps and the mobile site - m.facebook.com.
Sources informed that Facebook is back to normal now.
Any spokesperson from Facebook has not made any significant statement on the matter. However, the outage seems to have been a DNS issue.
It is worth noticing that DNS (Domain Name System) helps in accessing various websites on the Internet. It translates the name of a website from the Web browser address bar into a numerical IP address. During the outage, computers were not able to access the Internet so as to translate the typed address. Thus, the computer becomes unable to visit and access that website.
Besides India, few days back, Facebook has also faced a similar outage in some European countries because of some technical issues.
Analysts quote, co-incidentally, a New Delhi court is scheduled to hear a case today against 20 companies including Facebook, over censoring disparaging contents from their websites. However, the hearing is learnt to be deferred.
