NASSCOM report: Indian IT industry supporting over 280,000 jobs in the US


According to a report generated by The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), the direct workforce employed in the US by the Indian IT sector has almost doubled in the last five years to 107,000. It is expected that Indian industry supports more than 280,000 jobs in the US. 

NASSCOM is a trade association of Indian Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry.

According to Som Mittal, President, NASSCOM, Indian technology firms are deeply committed to the US marketplace. 

It is reportedly said, in recent years, leading Indian companies have increased their campus recruitment efforts. As per an expectation, the number of job offers will go further up by four times in the next two years. All in all, they are likely to rise by 50 percent in the next five years. 

Referring to a report, titled 'India’s Tech Industry in the US', it is found that Indian technology firms have paid whopping US$15 billion in taxes in the last five years. 

It is worth noticing, growth in acquisitions by the Indian companies in the US have increased to 54 percent in fiscal 2010 than a year back.
