Microsoft to launch KIN smartphones on May 6 According to latest update, Microsoft Corp, the software giant has announced the availability and pricing of its KIN One and KIN Two handsets on Verizon Wireless network. It is reported that the two devices will be available for pre-order on May 6 and delivered from May 13. KIN One and KIN Two smartphones will cost $49.99 and $99.99, respectively, with 2-year contract from Verizon and after a $100 mail-in rebate. The Redmond giant has not revealed its plans to offer these devices in other markets. Both the smartphones come with advanced social networking capabilities and feature touchscreen displays and slide-out QWERTY keyboards. Users can access Facebook, Myspace and Twitter directly from their home-screen. Further, the devices have “Kin Spot” feature which allows users to share individual files among their friends directly. Both devices run on a special version of Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system (not Windows Phone 7 or 6.5) and support the Zune HD player for media playback. Avinder Batra/ITvoir Network |
