Acer pushes into tablet and e-reader product segments
Acer, the leading Taiwanese vendor has recently showcased the prototype for its upcoming tablet and e-reader devices.
Apple’s iPad has made tablet category popular among consumers and vendors are coming with various competing devices. Unveil of prototypes for tablet and e-reader devices indicate that company is planning to push itself into the recent hyped product segments.
The prototype displayed runs on Google Android operating system with 7” display and a keypad. No details related to its launch and costing are revealed as of now.
The e-reader unveiled by Acer is namely, LumiRead and is in fact on the verge of rolling in the market soon. It weighs around 290g with 6” display. It is capable of connecting to Wi-Fi and 3G networks.
To read through the ISBN numbers, the e-reader comes with barcode scanner. Apart from these features, LumiRead is capable of converting the Web content into an e-book format, allows sharing of e-books and audiobooks with other compatible Acer devices and computers.
The e-reader boasts of 2GB internal memory with a slot for microSD card to extend the same. No disclosure on the prices of e-reader. Renu Singh/ITVoir Network
