Embedded chips are next optimistic bet for leading chip maker, Intel in coming years. The chips that are placed in cars or medical equipment represent the business opportunity of around $15 billion and would get accelerate in the coming years.

Intel has started bifurcating into other segments too; beyond its core chip making business. It is looking to other chip categories that are needed in current red hot category, Smartphones and other portable devices. The embedded microchip business would definitely get a boost in the coming years, as per related sources.

Meanwhile, the company has issued warnings for weakening sales due to slumping PC demands, last week. Since, PC segment is being innovated regularly and portable devices are making inroads to the industry; Intel has also joined the league with two recent acquisitions.

As per Intel, the embedded chips’ business would grow to reach 25 percent a year in the coming five years.
