Finally MNP (Mobile Number Portability) makes its way to the mobile users. The launch was delayed for various reasons, prime being the operators not ready with the infrastructural support.

Nevertheless, after all reasons, the service has seen the dawn and Haryana is proud state to get the services. While in all other states; the services are yet to be executed. It is being suggested that the program for the entire country would be sketched separately. The country has seen the launch of MNP and the operators including Idea Cellular, Tata DOCOMO and BSNL are already rolling the services. The services are very economically charged; the users can switch to other operator at cost of INR 19 while keeping the same number.

The service has faced lots of delays in its launch; it was scheduled to roll somewhere last December. The service will work as a catalyst towards intensifying the competition in telecom segment, suggested market watchers.

With so much of potential in telecom segment, Indian operators are facing intense price led war. It is also being suggested that MNP will spell a significant impact on the market.
