Motorola split seems eminent as it is scheduled for first week of 2011. Spilling the beans, the tech giant has cleared the smoke off the long awaited news. In a bid to boost its kudos, the one half will be focusing on cellphones and Internet and the other on professional equipment. Sources cited that this move will see Motorola, Inc. stockholders get one Motorola Mobility share for every 8 shares of Motorola common stock they hold.

On January 4, the company will change its name to Motorola Solutions and will start trading on the New York Stock Exchange under name of MSI whereas Motorola Mobility will trade under MMI, quoted as having said.

It is to be seen how the two independent identities thrive in meeting the horizon.
