The Indian subsidiary of EDS, MphasiS, an outsourcing company is setting up a new software services and development facility in Hyderabad in south India.

EDS holds a major stake in the company. The reports indicate that in initial stage the company will employ only 100 staff but has plans to grow to 1,000 within a year.

The new branch will focus on applications development and management services. This will help MphasiS to meet its target of increasing staff in India by 7,000 to 9,000. The company currently has about 28,000 staff.

EDS after holding a major stake in MphasiS has merged its own Indian services delivery operations into MphasiS.
But after acquisition of EDS by HP market watchers say that listing of MphasiS will not continue anymore on the stock exchange.

HP does not function other than wholly owned subsidiaries. For instance, HP bought Digital GlobalSoft and delisted it from stock exchange.
