Flashpoint, a digital firm based in New Hampshire has filed patent infringement case against the big names of Smartphone market. Among the accused are RIM, Nokia, LG Electronics and HTC; as per the allegations, the companies have infringed three patents related to digital camera functions. The company has requested to ban the imports of the named brands.
More specifically, the company is strongly against the imports of Nokia 5230 Nuron, BlackBerry Storm2 9550, HTC Droid Incredible, HTC MyTouch 3G, LG Ally and LG Expo GW820. It has made strong request to US International Trade Commission (ITC) towards banning these handsets. Among the patents that are supposedly being infringed are controlling parameters, retrieving capability parameters and auto rotating parameters to manage portrait and landscape mode of images.
The company has however stopped doing R&D in 2007 but still insists that companies should pay it for using any of its patents, quoted sources. Any progress is still awaited on the lawsuit! Garima Khanna/ITVoir Network |
