Overheating and burning issues have forced the Japanese electronics maker, Toshiba to recall some 41,000 laptops.
Reports of overheating and melting have forced Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall laptops that can pose burn hazards to consumers. The affected models are Toshiba Satellite T135, Satellite T135D, and Satellite Pro T130 notebooks and some 129 complaint reports have been filed so far.
It is being suggested that some Toshiba Satellite and Satellite Pro laptops were manufactured with faulty DC-In harness, which can lead to such misshaping. The laptops under scanner were sold between August 2009 and August 2010. The commission has suggested users to download the latest version of Toshiba's BIOS computer program instantaneously to the affected laptops. The new computer program would automatically detect whether the laptop is being overheated and then disable the external power along with a message display.
The users can continue with their operations meanwhile, without any risk of overheating further after the power disable; however, the battery cannot be recharged until the system is being repaired.
The complete details about recalled models are published on Toshiba's recall page. Renu Singh/ITVoir Network |
