The cut throat competition has led to the reduction in the price of smartphones. The introduction of newer and more efficient technologies and ever-increasing demand in a booming Indian economy are considered to be the main reasons for the drop in prices to almost half rate within a year.
Smartphones are much in demand as they offer multi-tasking, mobile office, mobile internet, push mail and run different kinds of applications. Moreover, the smartphone market is the fastest-growing category in the world's fastest-growing mobile phone market. It has been reported that handset makers such as Nokia, Samsung, LG, Dell, BlackBerry and HTC believe that the prices will plunge further next year. The increasing demand and popularity of 3G mobile technology which allows more people access the internet is making the competition stiffer.
Analysts are of the opinion that the availability of a wide variety of operating systems for smartphones will further bring down prices.
