Privately-held WatchGuard Technologies, a global leader of business security solutions recently announced that it broke all Q3 corporate billings records. In particular, the company experienced 15.6 percent year over year (YoY) Q3 billings growth, and expects that Q4 will be another record quarter due to increased global demand for its award-winning, unified threat management (UTM) security appliances. According to Joe Wang, CEO, WatchGuard Technologies, in today’s economy where every dollar counts, UTM solutions are consistently being recognized and deployed as the optimal way to secure networks and protect sensitive data. WatchGuard’s continued record growth is attributed to customers who demand the ultimate value for their network security. Record-breaking WatchGuard Revenue Growth Seen in All Regions For Q3 2011, WatchGuard broke all historic third quarter revenue records due to numerous countries around the world achieving significant, top-line billings growth. Growth for WatchGuard security solutions was broad-based across all regions due to increased business demand. In particular, EMEA (Europe/Middle East/Africa) was very strong, with a regional YoY growth of over 30 percent. The following territories achieved notable Q3 YoY growth: - Central Europe – 44 percent
- Southern Europe – 35 percent
- UK – 26 percent
- Australia/New Zealand – 23 percent
- India – 22 percent
Several factors contributed to WatchGuard’s record growth. The company notes a strong increase among upper mid-market (organizations with 1,000 to 3,000 employees), and managed security service providers (MSSP) as demonstrated by having a 66 percent increase of sales of its high performance XTM 8 series appliances. Additionally, WatchGuard attributes growth to insatiable demand for its latest security service – Application Control. With WatchGuard Application Control, businesses now gain in-depth, granular control over Web 2.0 applications, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and hundreds more. Not only does WatchGuard Application Control protect against the next generation of threats that leverage these popular applications, now businesses can rein in how individual employees use such applications, directly from the corporate firewall. By leveraging more than 2,500 unique application signatures, WatchGuard Application Control enables the firewall to identify and control nearly 2,000 applications. This level of control gives businesses new found freedom to align business needs with IT and security policies. By doing so, businesses gain greater efficiencies and improved productivity, and administrators gain unprecedented visibility and control over applications traversing their networks. As well, WatchGuard sees growing demand for its cloud-based security service, Reputation Enabled Defense, which gives businesses and their employees cloud protection against viruses, malware, spyware, keyloggers, botnets and other web-based threats, in addition to faster, more productive web surfing experiences. WatchGuard currently offers seven add on security services for its “all-in-one” XTM appliances, including: Application Control, WebBlocker, Gateway Antivirus, Reputation Enabled Defense, spamBlocker, Intrusion Prevention and LiveSecurity. These services can be purchased as a bundle or individually to best meet customer needs. ITvoir NewsDesk |
