Apple though is creating waves in tablet market with iPad 2, but it has been reported that the tech giant dominated the smartphone domain in 2010.
According to the latest piece of information, Apple’s iPhone was the most-preferred choice for smartphone owners in 2010, followed closely by Nokia and RIM. Apple conquered the smartphone region with total 29 per cent of market share. Its shiny iPhone equipped with rich features successfully replaced the high-end smartphones by Nokia and RIM from top slot. Sources revealed that Nokia acquired 20 per cent of market share and RIM trailed by RIM with 15 per cent.
However, in last quarter of the year all the top three vendors witnessed sharp fall in their smartphone revenues. This was largely due to the emergence of Android phones, which are expected to amplify sales enormously over the course of this year. HTC and Samsung are becoming new favorites among the users giving tough fight to the fruit themed company.
Let’s see whether Apple will recreate its dominance over smartphones revenues or not.
