Dell Inc, the world’s number three PC maker has launched a new laptop which bears a resemblance to the company''s super-thin Adamo luxury laptop, called Vostro V13 laptop; however it is about three times cheaper than Adamo.
With a starting price tag of $449, the new notebook measures 0.65 inches or 16.5 mm at its thinnest point that is similar to the Adamo model. Further, the device weighs just 3.5 pounds (1.6 kilograms), half a pound less than the Adamo. With a price tag of about $1,499, the Adamo has a 13.4” screen, while the V13 has a 13.3” display.
The $449 configuration comes with the Ubuntu Linux OS and an Intel Celeron processor, while the $649 configuration includes the Windows 7 OS. The new device will be available by the end of this year, aimed at SMBs and comes with advanced support options.
This new notebook boasts an antiglare LCD with white LED backlight and 1366 x 768 resolution. The Dell Vostro V13 notebook is powered by an Intel Core 2 CULV processor, but you can have the options of 1.2GHz Celeron 743, 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo SU7300, or 1.4GHz Core 2 Solo SU3500.
For connectivity, the device features Gigabit Ethernet, eSATA/USB, USB, ExpressCard/34, Headphone Out, Microphone In, 5-in-1 card reader and VGA.
