Hewlett-Packard, the leading PC vendor has announced the launch of its first mainstream laptop with touchscreen technology targeted at business users.
The all new EliteBook 2740p is a convertible tablet and weighs 3.8 pounds. The tablet possesses a 12.1-inch LED and is targeted at healthcare, education, and sales departments. Among other features, it comes with a multitouch screen, an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, up to 8 GB of system memory, and a 250 GB hard drive.
The company has first launched its touchscreen PC in January 2007but the feature remained limited to consumer line.
HP is targeting either type of business workers with its Convertible Tablet PC. The PC is expected to start with a price of $1,599.
Besides this, also announced is HP EliteBook notebook, the 2540p. The notebook comes with 12.1-inch screen, weighs 3.3 pounds, is not touch enabled and is priced at $1,099.
The PCs are expected to be available in April.
Also, refreshed is the ProBook standard-series laptop line with new systems starting at $719. The new line comes with 13.3-inch 4320s, the 14-inch 4420s, the 15.6-inch 4520s and the 17.3-inch 4720s.
