Lenovo, the PC maker and best known for its Thinkpad business laptops has announced a quartet of consumer PCs under its IdeaCentre line.
The new devices feature slim-and-sexy design, which target both the families and the traditional home offices. They also target Hewlett-Packard's portfolio, the number one PC maker that rules the consumer segment.
In the series, coming first are a pair of nettop PCs, called as the IdeaCentre Q100 and the Q110, based on Intel's Atom processor. The Q100 uses just 40 watts of power at full operation and 14 watts when idle and is priced at $249.
With a price tag of $349, the Q110 features Nvidia's ION graphics chip for 1080p video and DirectX 10 graphics, which is suitable for watching high-def videos or gaming. Both measure 6 x 6 x 0.7 inches and will be available in mid-September.
The next model, namely the IdeaCentre Q700 is aimed at the home theater PC (HTPC) market. It features an Intel E5200 dual-core CPU at 2.5 GHz and Intel integrated GMA X4500 graphics. With a price tag of $499, it supports 4 GB RAM, 320 GB SATA hard drive, DVD-RW drive and 1080p graphics via its HDMI connector and 7.1 digital surround sound.
The fourth device, Lenovo's first Windows home server, called as IdeaCentre D400. According to the company, it will compete with Acer's EasyStore Home Server and HP's MediaSmarts. With a price tag of $499, it supports upto 8TB of total storage via its four hard drive bays and five USB ports and eSATA port.
