According to a latest update, AMD has teamed-up with ARM to incorporate the ARM TrustZone technology into future APUs (Accelerated Processing Units) through a system-on-a-chip (SoC) design methodology. AMD will now use ARM’s license to develop the future platform security processor.

It is reportedly said that the latest collaboration will help align x86 hardware with the broadly-adopted mobile security ecosystem.

AMD and ARM will offer full-proof security to internet-connected mobile devices including tablets, PCs and servers powered with ARM processor-based solutions or AMD x86 APUs.

Mike Wolfe, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at AMD has demonstrated company’s vision to advance computing security during a presentation at the AMD Fusion Developer Summit 2012 (AFDS).

With this collaboration, AMD is likely to enhance AMD’s existing security technologies which include developing a platform security processor using an ARM Cortex-A5 CPU. It features TrustZone technology which will monitor and help protecting data and operations against malicious access at the hardware level.

Ian Drew, Executive Vice President, Strategy at ARM has shared his views on the latest collaboration, through this technology partnership with AMD, and the broadening of the ARM TrustZone technology ecosystem; the company is making another important step towards a solution. The aim is to make security accessible and consistent for consumers and business users across all computing devices
