Indian PC market is witnessing an intensified quadrangular battle among global brands Dell, HP, Acer and Lenovo as they are switching their positions too often. According to a latest report, Acer has dethroned Hewlett-Packard in the Indian PC market to become No. 1 PC seller in the country.
It is reportedly said that Acer clinched the top position with over 13 percent market share courtesy the robust performance of its commercial business. Another significant factor that helped Acer is the inability of unbranded or assembled PC sellers to cope with the price fluctuations during the year.
As far as the desktop PCs are concerned, Indian firm HCL Infosystems had the second spot after Acer, with a market share of around 8 percent.
Interestingly, Acer topped sales in the desktop category for nine months but then slipped to the number two slot during the July-September quarter.
However, in the overall PC market in India which includes laptops and tablets both, Dell is the top vendor, with Acer at the number four position.
It is worth noticing that overall PC market in India has recorded its lowest shipments in last six quarters during the last three months of 2011 significantly due to supply shortage and ensuing fluctuations in hard disk price.
