Social networking site for professionals, LinkedIn has recently faced a data breach that stole passwords of 6.4 million LinkedIn users.
It is worth noticing, LinkedIn, which made its stock debut last year, is a social media destination for numerous companies seeking employees along with people scouting for jobs. Presently, it has more than 161 million members worldwide.
After reviewing the type of information stolen and quantity of data released, market watchers believe, the hackers had been inside LinkedIn's network for many days.
Market watchers further added, the latest data breach will damage LinkedIn’s reputation among some business professionals. In addition, it may slow the fast-growing company's rise if the breach turns out to be more serious than so far disclosed.
According to some other cyber security experts, LinkedIn did not have any adequate protections in place to avoid data breaches in future.
According to security experts, the company could further disclose more data-losses over the coming days as it is trying to figure out possible reasons for data breach.
