“Dell, HP, Acer, Asus are planning to concede tablet market in 2012”, quoted market insiders.
The insiders reported that traditional PC makers like Dell and HP believe they have no advantage in the tablet market and are planning to phase out from competing with Apple's iPad, along with Amazon and Barnes & Noble in 2012.
It is observed, Apple’s iPad is dominating the tablet market like nobody else. Initially, iPad was launched in April 2010 and Apple sold almost 14.8 million iPads worldwide in 2010. Second version iPad 2 was launched in March 2011 and more than 15 million iPads have been sold till date.
Seems, Apple is the only company that can make money in tablet arena. Tablets including Asustek Computer’s Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak and HP’s Touchpad have failed to connect with the consumers. Now, Google’s Android is the only one in the race that can challenge iPad. Google's ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ system is all set to grab eyeballs as it will unite Android OS running tablets and smartphones.
Analysts believe, the recent news that traditional PC makers have lost their interest in the tablet market could be a ‘bad news’ for Microsoft as the company is also pinning hopes on its imminent tablet software, code-named Windows 8. ITVoir NewsDesk |
