In order to further reinforce its position in the mobile data market, state-run operator, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has reduced the charges for its mobile data usage by a whopping 75 percent for their postpaid users.
The report has also revealed that the charges for additional usage beyond free data usage for both 2G and 3G postpaid data plans has also been revised. Now, users have to pay 1paisa/ 10 KB, instead of the previous 4 paisa/10 KB.
Elaborating further on the latest development, the report added, the revised rates will pertain to roaming as well as home networks.
Insiders informed, BSNL has slashed the charges in an effort to test demand.
Presently, BSNL is the only operator to have 3G services across the country. It is one of the fastest growing operators in India. However, the company has seen hard times due to tough competition by its private sector rivals including Reliance, Airtel etc.
Market watchers added, such a sharp cut in the data plans will be welcomed with open arms by Indian subscribers.
The latest change would be effective from 1st June, 2012. So, get ready for much affordable mobile data services.
