In a bid to generate more revenue from its cloud services, Bharti Airtel has reportedly joined hands with Hewlett-Packard. With the latest deal HP will offer cloud-based e-mail, accounting packages, business software and storage services to small and mid-sized businesses.
Presently, Bharti now earns 12 percent of its revenue from SMBs.
It is reportedly said that the latest five-year deal means that HP will gain more market access for its cloud computing technologies without having to spend more capital on marketing to SMBs which is a significant part of Bharti Airtel's customer base. Latest stats revealed, the cloud computing market in India was $400 million in 2011 and this is expected to grow to $4.5 billion by 2015.
As far as Airtel’s benefits are concerned, now the company would be able to expand its service portfolio of accounting software, storage, business software (like pay roll) with additional computing resources.
The telecom company Bharti Airtel already has 30,000 SMB customers for internet and mobile services.
Amrita Gangotra, Director of IT at Bharti Airtel has shared his views on the latest partnership that they are starting with basic services and will expand to more specialized offerings like healthcare and education applications on the cloud.
