Google has finally opened up new fronts in hardware by launching a new Nexus 7 tablet to compete directly with other tablet makers including Apple and Amazon. If reports are to be believed, the new Nexus 7 tablet is made by Asus and will run on the latest version of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

It is reportedly said that the new Google tablet packs a 1,280-by-800 HD display, and runs a Tegra 3 chipset with a quad-core CPU and 12-core GPU. In addition, the Nexus 7 includes a front-facing camera, and literally all the connectivity options that users can expect like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC (Near Field Communication).

To entice music enthusiasts, the Nexus 7 features a new Shazam-esque feature that which will facilitate users to identify a song that's playing and then users could be able to purchase it via Google Play.

As far as its weight is concerned, sources informed that it weighs merely 340 grams.

Pricing and Availability:

The new Nexus 7 is now available for pre-order via Google Play. The 8GB model costs $199, while the 16GB version costs $249 to users. For availability, it is said that google will ship the device in mid-July to customers in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia.

Market watchers believe, Google's tablet Nexus 7 combined with Jelly Bean would be a tough competition to Apple, who dominates the tablet market with iPad.
