According to a latest update, the search giant Google has accused Microsoft Corp and Nokia for planning conspiracy and using their patents against smartphone industry rivals.
If reports are to be believed, Google has filed a formal complaint with the European Commission regarding the matter. Google Inc. also shared the complaint with the U.S. Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission.
In its complaint, Google claimed Microsoft and Nokia have transferred 1,200 patents for assertion to a group called MOSAID.
Further it is claimed that Nokia and Microsoft are scheming to raise the costs of mobile devices for consumers and to create patent trolls. This will ultimately side-step promises that both companies have made earlier.
In response, a spokesperson from Microsoft has said that the complaint is a "desperate tactic" by Google to spoil its image in tech industry, while no spokesperson from Nokia was available to comment.
Analysts added, Google's attack on Microsoft and Nokia will escalate a legal brawl among technology giants trying to gain the upper hand in the rapidly growing market for mobile computing.
