There is no secret that HTC is one of the biggest smartphone sellers. But this time, the company has posted fall in profits for its quarterly earnings. As per latest reports, Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC Corp's net profit fell 70 percent in the fourth quarter as its devices scrambled to compete with Apple Inc's iPhones and Samsung's Galaxy range.
Sources informed, HTC has posted its biggest drop in profit since listing a decade ago.
Stats revealed, net income for the first quarter was New Taiwan $4.46 billion ($151 million), the number is nearly 70 percent less from a year earlier. The analysts were expecting profit of NT$4.62 billion.
As far as revenues are concerned for the quarter, they have indicated a drop of 35 percent to NT$67.8 billion, compared with the NT$71.1 billion of analysts’ estimates.
Analysts believe, with Nokia's fall from market and BlackBerry maker Research in Motion's losing repute, HTC is required to recapture its innovative drive to maintain its position in the smartphone arena.
