According to a latest report, Indian IT bellwethers Tata Consultancy Services ( TCS), Infosys and Wipro have significantly took part to the Indian economic growth in fiscal 2011-2012. If reports are to be believed, the $100-billion Indian software and services industry has created over two million direct jobs in last fiscal.
It is reportedly said that these software giants collectively accounted for 25 percent of the country's merchandise exports which generated $69 billion in fiscal 2011-12.
It is found; IBM was one of the few companies that hired more than it did in 2011 in the subdued 2012 campus hiring.
Former Chief Executive of HP India Ltd. and an IT services expert with Wipro and the President of the National Association of Software and Services Companies ( Nasscom) and , Som Mittal has expressed his concern over the lack of government support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
He stated, Indian IT require urgent attention of the government if it has to remain competitive in a challenging environment ahead. Government need to take pro-active steps to enhance exports and give additional advantages to promote entrepreneurship in innovative product firms.
