Exports from the IT and ITeS sector is targeted to reach $87 billion in 2012-13, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Sachin Pilot stated in parliament.
It is worth noticing, the estimated revenue generated through IT exports during the year 2011-12 is $ 77.9 billion.
Intending to offer incentives to IT sector in India, the government has notified a new policy to provide preference to domestically manufactured electronic products, for the current year. Besides this, a modified special incentive package scheme has also been launched to attract investments in electronics systems design and manufacturing (ESDM) industries, Pilot further added.
It is reportedly said that the Indian government has also approved a new electronics manufacturing clusters scheme to offer world-class infrastructure for attracting investments in the ESDM Sector.
For this, the government has also constituted an Empowered Committee (EC) for identifying technology and investors for setting up semiconductor fabrication facilities in the country.
