Acknowledging the increasing Ultrabooks usage by small and medium businesses (SMBs), the chip maker Intel is betting big on Ultrabooks. According to a latest update, Intel has announced its plans to launch more than 50 new Ultrabook models by the end of year at its Solution Summit 2012.
Sources informed, Intel will focus significantly on business users with these Ultrabooks. As per the insiders report, these new range of laptops (Ultrabooks) have a strong resemblance with Apple’s iPad and MacBook Air.
In the proposed keynote, the chip maker has also expressed a new determination to extend the reach of its ultra-thin notebook form factor for the consumer to the commercial market.
Presently, Intel has almost 18 Ultrabook models on the market.
According to Kirk Skaugen, Vice President and General Manager at Intel’s PC Client Group, by the end of 2012, the company is committed to ensure that there would be at least 75 Ultrabooks in the market.
Further he added, this is just the beginning of Ultrabook movement and that through “2013 and beyond,” Intel will continue to reshape and rethink the ultra-portable form factor. With the introduction of Intel’s new third-generation Ivy Bridge processors by next quarter, Ultrabook’s overall performance will be more suitable to meet needs of business users.
The chip maker is predicting that by the end of 2012, Ultrabooks will represent 40 per cent of the consumer laptop market.
