Intel has shown inclination towards increasing expenditure on channels, citing a 30% rise in its budget for 2011. By this step Intel is trying to pacify system build partners that it is committed to them, and at the same time outreach their existing boundaries in the ODM channel sphere, sources informed.

 Whereas system integrators will not receive such spending, as Intel will direct investment towards its partners under its membership 2011 plan.

There were rumors that Intel was going through a channel conflict due to problems arising from newly arising mobile device sectors, which led Intel to give less importance to traditional integrators and system builders. But Intel’s move seems to be a reconciliatory effort towards the same speculation.

Intel saw a 60% rise in its channel sales last year.

According to sources, Intel in the previous year received more success in selling products  through ODMs compared to distributors which was a consequence of establishment of the netbook PC category.

Therefore the chipmaker thought that it will be a good decision to increase spending in the channel segment.
