The chip maker Intel is deliberately working on a high performance computer chips. According to latest chunk of information, Intel is investing high in the development of "superchip" for high-performance computing systems.
Intel is expecting that the launch of latest chips will raise company’s supercomputing profile.
Sources informed that the superchip is aimed to provide high-bandwidth throughput with the use of InfiniBand interconnect technology.
It is worth noticing that Intel has recently acquired InfiniBand Technology from QLogic for $125 million.
InfiniBand Technology is low-latency interconnect technology that links servers and storage units in data centers. The InfiniBand architecture specification defines a connection between processor nodes and high performance I/O nodes such as storage devices. Its intuitive features include high bandwidth, low latency, scalability, quality of service and failover.
A significant number of the employees associated with this business are expected to join Intel very soon to work on the new product line.
