Global chip major Intel has reportedly said that smartphones with variants of its Atom processors will make their debut in the domestic market next year.
R Ravichandran, India and South Asia sales director at Intel has stated that Intel processors powered Google TV, Ultrabooks and tablets have already been debuted. Now, smartphones with Atom cores are all set to make their debut by next year.
Trusted aides cited, in April 2011, Intel Corporation began a pilot project to produce smartphones with ZTE Corporation for China's domestic market. The smartphone will be powered with Intel Atom processor.
Analysts believe, the first phones based on Atom chips which are Intel's low-power entrant will be up for grab by next year. That means, when other rivals including ARM may be planning to integrate next-generation or advanced version of chips into mobiles, Intel will make its debut in the industry.
Seems, the latest move by Intel is intended to challenge the domination of ARM processors in mobile phones. Coming year will play a crucial role in deciding the fate for the chip maker Intel in smartphone segment.
