The search giant Google has reportedly issued a warning message to about a quarter-million computer users. If reports are to be believed, millions of users may lose the ability to connect to the internet on July 9th.
It is reportedly said that the latest shutdown will happen due to a computer virus namely DNSChanger.
According to a spokesperson from McAfee, India has the third highest number of DNS infections after the US and Italy. Latest stats revealed, there are nearly 300,000 infected systems globally, with a maximum of over 69,500 such system in the US. Italy is at second position with about 26,500 infected systems, followed by India with 21,300 and the UK with 19,589 infected computers.
Some analysts consider the latest threat to be small compared with more-prevalent viruses such as Zeus and SpyEye, which infect millions of PCs and are used to commit financial fraud.
As a matter of concern, it is found, the problem began when an international online advertising scam has been disclosed.
To the reader’s surprise, the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) has set up a safety net months ago using government computers to prevent Internet disruptions for those infected users. However, those systems will be shut down on July 9 to kill connections for malicious content.
It is important to note, after July 9, infected users won't be able to connect to the internet.
