According to a latest announcement made by D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Chief Minister of Karnataka, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Group 2020 is going to be established in the state which will give employment to numerous people.
Sources informed, the Karnataka Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Group 2020 would be led by T.V. Mohandas Pai, Chairman of Manipal Global Education Services.
For this, the state government has already started acquiring land near Devanahalli to establish a software park, an electronic hardware park and an aerospace park.
It is reportedly said that the ICT Group 2020 would aid around 1,000 start-ups and take up entrepreneurship initiatives. It has allocated 4,000 acres of land to develop a science city in Challakere, Chitradurga district.
Commenting at the Global Investors' Meet (GIM) in Bangalore, Gowda shared his views that over 8 lakh people are engaged in the IT sector in the state at present. Now, the number is going to increase and likely to reach 20 lakh by 2020.
Further he added, presently, export earnings from the IT sector from Karnataka is about Rs. 1.35 lakh crore and government’s mission is to raise it to Rs. 4 lakh crore in the next 12 years.
