Samsung has established itself as the undisputed king of OLED displays and is enjoying monopoly in OLED display market with 97 percent market share. However, Samsung’s OLED technology is now on the verge of losing trillions of won from a recent leak.
If reports are to be believed, LG Display has announced that 11 people, including six of its own employees, have been charged for stealing advanced OLED TV display technology from Samsung. Besides LG executives, six members of the group were apparently former or current employees at Samsung Mobile. It is found, three of those charged people are currently working at Samsung Display, a display making unit of Samsung Electronics.
It is worth noticing; both the firms ( LG and samsung) are vying for dominance in the display market and are planning to trap thinner and lighter device market based on advance OLED technology.
A spokesperson from Samsung has stated that LG Display is playing smart. First, its systematically stole Samsung’s display technology and then poached Samsung employees.
However, LG denied that the company or any of its employees were involved in the theft.
