Seems, Indian PC industry is witnessing an intensified triangular battle among global brands including Dell, HP, and Lenovo these days as they are switching their ranks too often. According to a latest update, Chinese personal computer maker Lenovo has gained the first position in the overall Indian PC market, for the first time.
Lenovo has surpassed tech vendors Dell and Hewlett-Packard (HP).
It is reportedly said that Lenovo has a market share of over 15 percent in the three months ending March 31. Lenovo is followed by Dell, whose market share has recorded a plunge of 2.6 percent. HP is at third spot with a market share of 14.9 percent in the quarter ending March 31.
To the reader's surprise, Lenovo accounted for 10 percent in the previous period, which put Lenovo at the fourth spot after HP, Dell and Acer.
Insiders quote, Lenovo's push to the top spot is backed by a large order from the Tamil Nadu government to supply free laptops to graduating students.
To rewind: few months back, Tamil Nadu had announced procurement of 9 lakh laptops at about Rs. 14,000 a unit and Lenovo, along with HCL Infosystems and Acer, had bagged the contract.
Market watchers added, with the top spot switching often among PC makers HP, Dell and Lenovo, Indian PC market is witnessing tough rivalries these days.
