The technology company, Lenovo has surpassed Dell in worldwide PC market sales to become number 2 PC maker after beating Acer in the previous quarter.
As per the Q3 results of worldwide personal computer (PC) market, Hewlett-Packard Co's personal computer shipments grew 5.3 per cent, while China's Lenovo overtook Dell to become the world's No. 2 PC maker for the first time.
Lenovo’s market share during the previous quarter was at 12.2 percent, placing the company right behind Dell, which had a 12.9 percent share. The tech bigwig, Hewlett Packard continued to be at Numero Uno position accounting for 17.3 percent share.
It is reported that the world’s No.2 PC brand has seen strong sales in China and other emerging markets like Latin America, Africa and India. In the last quarter, the company's PC sales grew by 22.9 percent year-over-year. In contrast, Dell's PC sales only increased by 2.8 percent.
Analysts further quote, along with the rapid demand, the successful execution of Lenovo’s joint venture in Japan with NEC and acquisition of Medion in Germany, Dell fully expects to gain more share in worldwide PCs by year end. ITVoir NewsDesk |
