According to a latest update, the domestic mobile handset maker Micromax is aiming to become the second largest smartphone seller in India. As per a latest update, Micromax is likely to expand its portfolio with eight new devices very soon with different price points to entice Indian consumers.
It is reportedly said that the company is aiming two-fold growth in its monthly sales to 1.5 lakh units by the end of 2012.
According to Deepak Mehrotra, CEO at Micromax - latest stats clearly indicate that Microsoft is already ahead of most of its competitors in the smartphone space. He is confident that MIcromax will surely reach to the number two position by the end of 2012.
Presently, Micromax has a dozen of smartphones and four new ones will be launched in the next few weeks. Latest stats revealed, Micromax sold over 67,000 smartphones in July this year. The value is much higher than its competitors including HTC and Karbonn.
As far as the overall smartphone sales in India is concerned, it increased by 87 percent to 11.2 million units in 2011 from 6 million units in 2010 compared to seven percent y-o-y increase in the feature phones category.
Besides smartphones, Micromax is also betting big on its tablet computers, it had launched its FunBook device in April and is expanding the range as well.
