According to a latest update, Microsoft Corp took another leap toward its goal of turning the Xbox into the medium of household entertainment. As per latest update, Microsoft has unveiled a new software which will facilitate users to view extra content, control games and surf the Internet from their handheld devices including tablets and smartphones.
Trusted sources informed, Microsoft’s new service will include 30 million tracks available on the Xbox, as well as Windows 8 devices such as PCs and tablets.
It is worth noticing, Xbox is already streaming Netflix, ESPN and other channels. Now, the software maker has unveiled a "SmartGlass" application which links the console to mobile devices powered by Windows or Apple Inc's iOS and Google Inc's Android.
Market watchers added, Microsoft has been trying for years to make a living-room entertainment hub of its Xbox. Microsoft has sold a total of 67 million units since it launched in 2005.
With this latest move, the Redmond giant is trying to compete against the likes of Apple's iTunes, Pandora, and Spotify, market experts further added.
