According to a latest update, the Redmond giant Microsoft has rolled out a new design for its Bing search engine that includes insights from Facebook and Twitter.
Sources informed, Microsoft’s latest move introduces a new sidebar which connects users with friends and other enthusiasts who can offer help. For instance, if a user posts a query regarding any keyword, Bing will check Facebook "likes", photos and other public profile information to suggest people who could provide useful insights about that specific keyword.
It is worth noticing, Microsoft has paid $240 million for a 1.6 percent stake in Facebook in late 2007. Analysts added, the investment has now put Microsoft in a position to build a relationship with Facebook, which has a stated mission of making the Internet more social.
According to a company official, Microsoft’s latest move is based on the fact that 90 percent of people consult with their friends or experts before making any decision.
Seems, the Redmond giant is trying to claw more market share from leader Google Inc. Presently, Bing has about a 15 percent share of the US search market, while Google is enjoying lion’s share with nearly 66 percent portion.
