After a big round of speculations and several months of delay, Microsoft has made its new social network called Microsoft So.cl available to users. Designed by Microsoft's FUSE Labs, the latest So.cl is actually an experimental research project to find the possibilities of social search for the purpose of learning.
Sources informed, the site is specifically designed for students to share their interesting discoveries online with their friends.
Some of the intuitive features that Microsoft So.cl offers are:
• The site effectively combines social networking and research and thus permits students to share interesting pages where they can collaborate with other friends and work together.
• Allows students to create posts with the use of visual web content.
• Encourages collaboration and interaction among students through its real media and real time sharing of videos and other contents.
A spokesperson from Microsoft has stated, so.cl is not meant to replace other social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, or to replace search engines, but will surely enhance user’s searching experience.
